Try Something New… With FUZE tea
It started out with a delivery. They usually do. Sometimes the deliveries are, well, okay. And sometimes the deliveries are awesome. This particular delivery was one of those awesome ones – a giant wooden box (obsessed with wooden boxes) filled with cocktail equipment, FUZE Pear and Bergamot Flavoured Ice Tea, elderflower syrup (the biggest bottle ever!) and accessories. All to make the perfect cocktail.
Which I did. The Pear and Bergamot flavour spiked with elderflower was just perfect. Shaken over ice, strained into a glass and basically smashed in my face immediately. The challenge was to #TrySomethingNew – challenge accepted!
Along with two of the coolest cats I have ever met, we hopped into a FUZE tea van last week Saturday and began exploring Jozi. Siya, Zaahira and I had each chosen our favourite suburb and each had to show each other something new. Starting off in Braamfontein with a coffee (after a FUZE tea or two) on a rather gloomy day; Siya showed off his best spots in Braamies. Shoes and fashion were the order of the day as we perused Anatomy and Parooz, as well as Neighbourgoods Market. Zaahira was styled by the man himself and the result was pretty great! Although I’m sure the girl could pull off anything…
Another quick trip in the van, another delicious FUZE ice tea. We headed off to my suburb, Parkhurst, where we were greeted at Vovo Telo with a Mimosa, an apron and a chef’s hat. My kind of welcome! I was in my element as Lloyd, Vovo’s head baker for fourteen years, brought out a huge container filled with yeasty bread dough. Soft and fluffy, bubbly and basically alive. Siya and Zaahira were mesmerised. We each got stuck in and shaped two ciabattas and a few of Vovo’s famous cheesy bread sticks. Lloyd lovingly proofed and baked them for us and they were the perfect late-night snack after a great day.
Lunch at The Wolfpack for their famous burgers and a made-for-us, try-something-new buffalo mozzarella and Caesar dressing starter. Dessert were the deep-fried Oreos at Hudson’s Burgers – something I have never tried before…They were so good. So good!
Zaahira’s part of the outing was based at 27 Boxes in Melville. We printed our own t-shirts at Toast, which was just so much fun. My ice-cream print was an easy choice and I just love the vest. We had a quick look around a quirky decor store before moving on to Flip-Flop where we planted trees and got an amazing pair of flip-flops from a vending machine. They’re made from recyclable material; which I am all about.
All in all, what a day! Spending it with two people from completely different fields forced us all to step out of our comfort zones and try something new. Well, a few new things! Thanks again to FUZE tea for organising the most fun day…
